Sounds Like Art\u00a0is an exciting\u00a0new concert\u00a0initiative\u00a0that\u00a0invites musicians to perform\u00a0amongst\u00a0works of art in a\u00a0European museum\u00a0of their choice.\u00a0World-renowned artist Sting performs in the beautiful surroundings of Amsterdam\u2019s\u00a0Rijksmuseum\u00a0amongst\u00a0paintings by\u00a0Rembrandt,\u00a0Vermeer\u00a0and\u00a0Judith Leyster, and reflects on the works of the old masters, and gets released June 26.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The\u00a017-time\u00a0Grammy Award winning\u00a0artist\u00a0performs a unique concert amongst masterpieces\u00a0in the Gallery of\u00a0Honour.\u00a0Playing a rare\u00a017th century guitar, Sting, managed by Martin Kierszenbaum\/Cherrytree Music Company, reveals his love for the Old Masters and revels in the power of books and reading, while performing in the museum\u2019s spectacular library.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Coinciding with an international run of Sting\u2019s musical\u00a0\u201cThe Last Ship\u201d\u00a0in Amsterdam, Paris, Brisbane and New York, this\u00a0special performance\u00a0includes selections from his TONY Award nominated musical,\u00a0a deeply personal tribute to Sting\u2019s native\u00a0Northeast\u00a0England and the now-vanished\u00a0shipbuilding tradition\u00a0of his hometown, Wallsend. Accompanied by his longtime guitarist\u00a0Dominic Miller, Sting reflects on the musical\u2019s origins, shares stories from throughout his career, and performs beloved songs spanning his illustrious\u00a0catalogue, including classics from\u00a0his celebrated\u00a0band,\u00a0The Police.\u00a0<\/p>\n

During his time in Amsterdam, ARTE captured Sting\u2019s breathtaking performance at the Rijksmuseum, creating a stunning live film that will premiere on ARTE\u2019s VOD platform on March 5 before broadcasting across the network in Germany and France on March 27. The performance will also receive a physical release on CD and vinyl, titled\u00a0Sting \u2013 The Night Watch: Live at the Rijksmuseum, with pre-orders launching March 5 ahead of the June 26 release.

While the Rijksmuseum\u2019s crown jewel, Rembrandt\u2019s\u00a0The Night Watch, undergoes restoration, the museum opens the doors of the painting\u2019s striking glass-fronted gallery for a\u00a0rare, intimate performance. For the occasion, Sting plays a unique 17th-century guitar\u2014originally crafted for the court of Louis XIV, the Sun King\u2014generously loaned to the museum.\u00a0
