WARSAW, N.Y. (WROC) \u2014 A massive four-alarm barn fire in Warsaw resulted in the complete loss of the barn and its contents. Two firefighters were hospitalized.<\/p>\n
At around 9:37 p.m. on Friday, March 6, crews with the Wyoming County Office of Emergency Services received a call from emergency services about a barn fire on Route 20A in Warsaw. Fire crews responded in numbers, including 15 fire companies to work the blaze and five companies on standby in neighboring departments, officials say.<\/p>\n
The barn was about 250 feet by 40 feet in size and had a gable roof. It was fully ablaze when firefighters arrived. Within were stored loose belongings, a milking parlor, straw, and equipment.<\/p>\n
The LeRoy Fire Department, which assisted, said this was a difficult fire to extinguish because pockets of fire remained, causing poor smoke conditions.<\/p>\n
Firefighters were on scene for 6 hours. They were able to protect the house from any damage, and no animals died in the fire. The estimated cost of the damages is $100,000.<\/p>\n
Four firefighters required medical attention, and two were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.<\/p>\n
