{"id":35597,"date":"2026-03-08T22:08:18","date_gmt":"2026-03-08T22:08:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/35597\/"},"modified":"2026-03-08T22:08:18","modified_gmt":"2026-03-08T22:08:18","slug":"evacuation-exercise-held-in-vilnius","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/35597\/","title":{"rendered":"Evacuation exercise held in Vilnius"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Director of the National Crisis Management Centre (NKVC) Vilmantas Vitkauskas said at a press conference that training proceeded at good pace without any major issues and according to plan.<\/p>\n<p>Vilnius mayor Valdas Benkunskas said that 500 volunteers took part in the exercise, simulating evacuation from Lithuania\u2019s capital using buses. People were transported from collection points via \u201ea green corridor\u201c with police escort. It was also monitored how buses moved with the general traffic flow.<\/p>\n<p>Volunteers gathered in Antakalnis neighbourhood, where they were registered and transported by buses to Vilnius railway station. From there, some participants were evacuated to Kaunas by train and will spend a night there. Others were transported to Ukmerg\u0117 and other cities.<\/p>\n<p>The operation of air raid sirens was also tested before noon.<\/p>\n<p>Interior Minister Vladislav Kondratovi\u010d said at the press conference that the exercise would show how cooperation proceeds between different institutions and with non-governmental organisations.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, he said that Lithuania holds active discussions on the topic of evacuations with other Baltic States.
