{"id":37527,"date":"2026-03-11T07:46:13","date_gmt":"2026-03-11T07:46:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/37527\/"},"modified":"2026-03-11T07:46:13","modified_gmt":"2026-03-11T07:46:13","slug":"plantea-estudio-transform-austere-concrete-shell-into-acid-cafe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/37527\/","title":{"rendered":"Plantea Estudio transform austere concrete shell into Acid cafe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wood, granite and stainless steel elements enrich the otherwise bare concrete interior of this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/cafes\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">cafe<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/berlin\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Berlin<\/a>, designed by Spanish firm <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/plantea-estudio\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Plantea Estudio<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The cafe is set within a corner building in the city&#8217;s Prenzlauer Berg neighbourhood, opposite an industrial complex that hosts artist studios belonging to the likes of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/ai-weiwei\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ai Weiwei<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/olafur-eliasson\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Olafur Eliasson<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s the second <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/acid.cafe\/?hl=en\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Acid<\/a> to open in Berlin, joining another branch in the Mitte district that was also designed by <a href=\"https:\/\/planteaestudio.com\/en-es\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Plantea Estudio<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2301483 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/acid-cafe-interiors-berlin-plantea-estudio_dezeen_2364_col_3-852x1277.jpg\" alt=\"Acid cafe in Berlin, designed by Plantea Estudio\" width=\"1577\" height=\"2364\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/>Plantea Estudio has designed the second Acid location in Berlin<\/p>\n<p>This latest location came with exposed concrete walls and steel-framed folding doors, which the studio was fond of but said felt &#8220;somewhat impersonal&#8221;, so it set out to create an interior that was more in line with Acid&#8217;s identity.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The project introduces a series of elements designed to bring functionality, comfort, lighting and sound, while also softening the atmosphere to create a warmer, more domestic interior, without losing coherence with the building&#8217;s original architectural language,&#8221; the studio said.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2301480 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/acid-cafe-interiors-berlin-plantea-estudio_dezeen_2364_col_0-852x1277.jpg\" alt=\"Acid cafe in Berlin, designed by Plantea Estudio\" width=\"1577\" height=\"2364\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/>The concrete interior features a mix of wood, granite and steel elements<\/p>\n<p>A tall wooden volume was erected along the cafe&#8217;s rear wall, with built-in metal shelving that showcases loaves of bread, packs of coffee and some service equipment.<\/p>\n<p>The volume also helps conceal a flight of stairs that leads down to the cafe&#8217;s basement, and supports the weighty wooden speakers that play music throughout the day.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2301492 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/acid-cafe-interiors-berlin-plantea-estudio_dezeen_2364_col_14-852x1277.jpg\" alt=\"Acid cafe in Berlin, designed by Plantea Estudio\" width=\"1577\" height=\"2364\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/>A Japanese paper lamp dangles over the cafe&#8217;s merchandise table<\/p>\n<p>Coffee machines and the cafe&#8217;s pastry offering are displayed on a lengthy counter with a stainless steel top and granite base.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Though substantial in size, its muted tones echo the surrounding concrete, allowing the wooden background and other elements to take visual precedence,&#8221;
