{"id":37538,"date":"2026-03-11T07:58:09","date_gmt":"2026-03-11T07:58:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/37538\/"},"modified":"2026-03-11T07:58:09","modified_gmt":"2026-03-11T07:58:09","slug":"over-half-the-materials-purchase-to-make-lego-bricks-come-from-renewable-or-recycled-sources","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/37538\/","title":{"rendered":"Over half the materials purchase to make Lego bricks come from renewable or recycled sources"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some 52% of the materials purchased to produce <a href=\"https:\/\/sustainabilityonline.net\/tag\/lego\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"\">Lego<\/a> bricks in 2025 came from renewable and <a href=\"https:\/\/sustainabilityonline.net\/category\/recycling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"\">recycled<\/a> sources, up from 33% the previous year, The Lego Group has said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the group\u2019s 2025 Financial and Sustainability Progress Report, last year saw The Lego Group increase its investment in sustainability by 20% compared to 2024, and more than three times compared to 2022.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Its reliance on renewable and recycled content was achieved through large-scale purchases of certified mass balance and segregated materials, meaning less reliance on virgin fossil-based materials.<\/p>\n<p>Flat emissions<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Total greenhouse gas emissions at the firm were relatively flat (0.2%) compared to the previous year, while The Lego Group said that it \u2018continued to make progress\u2019 on carbon intensity, reporting a fall in emissions relative to revenue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The group \u2018significantly expanded\u2019 its solar capabilities, invested in geothermal energy, and pursued <a href=\"https:\/\/sustainabilityonline.net\/tag\/renewable\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"\">renewable<\/a> energy power purchase agreements. It also said that it positively impacted some 11.7 million children worldwide through global social responsibility initiatives.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are deeply committed to having a positive impact on the world and the communities we are part of,\u201d commented Niels B Christiansen, CEO, The Lego Group. \u201cWe do this by aiming to reduce our environmental footprint and improving access to play for kids who need it most, and we will continue to invest significantly to deliver on that ambition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Group performance<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Group revenue at The Lego Group rose by 12% to DKK 83.5 billion last year, with consumer sales rising 16%. Operating profit grew 18% to DKK 22 billion due to what the company said were \u2018record\u2019 top-line sales, production scale efficiencies and productivity gains.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are very pleased with our record performance in 2025, building on last year\u2019s success,\u201d Christiansen added. \u201cOur innovative and extensive portfolio, combined with the strength of the Lego brand and an effective operating model, drove high demand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2025, The Lego Group unveiled its largest portfolio to date, with 860 products launched, it added.
