{"id":39988,"date":"2026-03-14T10:59:08","date_gmt":"2026-03-14T10:59:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/39988\/"},"modified":"2026-03-14T10:59:08","modified_gmt":"2026-03-14T10:59:08","slug":"explosion-damages-jewish-school-in-amsterdam-in-deliberate-attack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/39988\/","title":{"rendered":"Explosion damages Jewish school in Amsterdam in &#8216;deliberate attack&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An\u00a0explosion\u00a0lightly\u00a0damaged\u00a0a\u00a0Jewish\u00a0school\u00a0in\u00a0Amsterdam\u00a0early on Saturday, in what the city\u2019s mayor described as \u201ca deliberate attack against the\u00a0Jewish\u00a0community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0explosion\u00a0at the\u00a0school\u00a0in an upscale residential neighborhood on the south side of Amsterdam damaged a rainpipe and charred an outer wall, and caused no injuries.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor\u00a0Femke Halsema said\u00a0the incident was taken very seriously, and would lead to increased security at\u00a0Jewish\u00a0institutions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a cowardly act of aggression against the\u00a0Jewish\u00a0community,\u201d Halsema said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJewish\u00a0people in\u00a0Amsterdam\u00a0are increasingly confronted with antisemitism. REUTERS<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0school\u00a0is the only one specifically for orthodox Jews in the Netherlands, and is largely fenced off by a pointed, metal outer wall due to earlier threats.<\/p>\n<p>Security at synagogues and\u00a0Jewish\u00a0institutions in the Dutch capital had already been heightened after an overnight arson attack at a <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/03\/13\/world-news\/dutch-police-investigate-overnight-fire-attack-on-rotterdam-synagogue\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">synagogue in the center of\u00a0Rotterdam<\/a>\u00a0on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>In neighboring Belgium, an\u00a0explosion\u00a0caused a fire at a synagogue in\u00a0Liege\u00a0on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Police investigate the Jewish school explosion, a day after a synagogue in Rotterdam was set on fire.
