{"id":40222,"date":"2026-03-14T19:31:48","date_gmt":"2026-03-14T19:31:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/40222\/"},"modified":"2026-03-14T19:31:48","modified_gmt":"2026-03-14T19:31:48","slug":"orsted-sues-trump-administration-over-project-suspension","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/40222\/","title":{"rendered":"\u00d8rsted Sues Trump Administration Over Project Suspension"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"speakable\">A joint venture of \u00d8rsted, the world\u2019s largest offshore wind developer, <a href=\"https:\/\/orsted.com\/en\/media\/news\/2026\/01\/revolution-wind-llc-to-file-preliminary-injunction-1473856511\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">has challenged<\/a> in court the Trump Administration\u2019s lease suspension order to halt work on the Revolution Wind offshore wind project off the U.S. East Coast.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Revolution Wind LLC, a 50\/50 joint venture between Global Infrastructure Partners\u2019 Skyborn Renewables and \u00d8rsted, filed a supplemental complaint in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, challenging the lease suspension order issued on December 22, 2025 by the U.S. Department of the Interior\u2019s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), to be followed by a motion for a preliminary injunction.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On December 22, the U.S. Department of the Interior <a href=\"https:\/\/oilprice.com\/Latest-Energy-News\/World-News\/US-Pauses-Offshore-Wind-Leases-over-National-Security-Concerns.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">paused leases<\/a> for five offshore wind projects, due to national security concerns, said Secretary of the Interior, Doug Burgum.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Roughnecks-Riches-Start-Up-American-Fracking\/dp\/B0FCDBHGSW\" class=\"charts_banner_clicked charts_banner_add_view\" data-banner_id=\"38\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"not_lightbox\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/book.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The projects Vineyard Wind 1, Revolution Wind, CVOW \u2013 Commercial, Sunrise Wind, and Empire Wind 1 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.doi.gov\/pressreleases\/trump-administration-protects-us-national-security-pausing-offshore-wind-leases\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">were paused<\/a> by the U.S. Administration, which threw another curveball to developers of offshore wind projects, many of which are in advanced stage of development.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Revolution Wind, which secured all required federal and state permits in 2023, following extensive reviews, is currently about 87% complete and has already installed all offshore foundations and 58 of 65 wind turbines.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sunrise Wind LLC, a separate project and wholly-owned subsidiary of \u00d8rsted that also received a lease suspension order on December 22, continues to evaluate all options to resolve the matter, including engagement with relevant agencies and stakeholders and considering legal proceedings, the Denmark-based offshore wind giant said on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Norway\u2019s Equinor <a href=\"https:\/\/oilprice.com\/Latest-Energy-News\/World-News\/Equinor-Suspends-Work-on-3-Billion-Offshore-Wind-Farm.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">suspended work<\/a> on the Empire Wind 1 project following the stop-work order issued by the U.S. Administration.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Trump Administration has made no secret of its attitude to wind energy, and especially offshore wind.
