A Jewish school<\/a> was rocked by an explosion in the early hours of Saturday. The incident occured in Amsterdam<\/a> with police and fire officials quickly responding to the incident.<\/p>\n

The city’s mayor, Femke Halsema, said she believed the blast was a “deliberate attack against the Jewish community”. No injuries were immediately reported. Police are examining camera footage that appears to show the individual igniting the explosive device.<\/p>\n

Ms Halsema said: “This \u200bis a cowardly act \u200bof aggression against the Jewish community. Jewish people in Amsterdam are \u2060increasingly confronted with antisemitism. This is unacceptable.”<\/p>\n

The Islamic Movement of the Companions of the Right has claimed responsibility for the attack, marking the fourth incident in Europe they have alleged to have carried out this week.<\/p>\n

The group released a video online showing a person seemingly placing a device that then explodes, though officials have not yet established whether the footage is genuine and whether the group was actually involved.<\/p>\n

Security around Jewish schools and community institutions has been tightened even further, following recent attacks on synagogues in Rotterdam and in Li\u00e8ge, Belgium.<\/p>\n

This comes after on Thursday evening a man allegedly drove his car into a synagogue in West Bloomfield Township while armed with a rifle before being fatally shot by security.<\/p>\n

None of the synagogue\u2019s staff, teachers or the 140 children in its early\u2011childhood centre were harmed. Federal investigators later said the Michigan incident constituted an act of violence directed at the Jewish community.<\/p>\n

Concerns about potential threats to Jewish communities worldwide have grown in the wake of US\u2013Israeli airstrikes on Iran and Tehran\u2019s subsequent military retaliation.<\/p>\n

The escalation has heightened fears that Jewish institutions and individuals could become targets amid rising regional and global tensions, prompting increased vigilance and security measures in many countries.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A Jewish school was rocked by an explosion in the early hours of Saturday.
