After a season’s break, the Fashion Fund winner returned to Berlin with what proved to be one of her most personal collections. Inspired by changes, milestones, and a little bit of chaos in her life, Kucharska asked herself what could be better than compulsively maintaining everything. “Life is constantly changing. My life has also taken new paths—and I first had to learn how to refocus myself amid all the hustle and bustle.” She devoted a lot of effort to fabric development. Take her signature look: molded latex that wraps around the body like a second skin. “We took the time again to work with new surface textures. Like the floor-length snake dress, which is one of the most elaborate pieces in the collection.” One of the young mother’s many nostalgic memories of her own childhood and animated movies like “The Jungle Book.”

The other way to deal with hecticness is to simply let it run its course. Shirt sleeves were knotted together at various points on the body, hastily tied around the waist and reworked into skirts and dresses. Precise cuts looked deliberately hasty and quickly put on, some of them not even finished. Added to this was a mix of modular elements such as leg warmers and sleeves, which gave the mostly body-hugging silhouettes more weight and volume. “We go through life carrying more baggage, ballast, and tasks,” Kucharska said backstage, picking up one of her new extra-large pouches, which were inspired by diaper bags. “But that’s not a bad thing,” she added with a smile. “We keep going. Just sometimes a little slower.”

Good things take time—and Kasia Kucharska wasn’t afraid to take that time.
