The European initiative,” he added, “is consistent with the path initiated at the national level, where attention is currently focused on SMR as a potential reference technology.” “The Ministry of Economic Development,” he noted, “has participated, since its inception, in the European Industrial Alliance on SMR, confirming the national commitment to new nuclear technologies.” “Italy,” Minister Pichetto Fratin concluded, “views with interest the development prospects of advanced nuclear technologies, particularly SMR, advanced reactors, and fusion, which could contribute to strengthening industrial competitiveness and European energy security in the long term.” The Nuclear Alliance was launched in 2023 at the instigation of France and currently brings together 15 EU member states. Italy joined on June 16, 2025. This ministerial meeting, which follows the sidelines of the Nuclear Energy Summit on March 10 in Paris, is part of a series of regular meetings aimed at coordinating common positions on European nuclear policies. Specifically, the Alliance promotes recognition of nuclear’s contribution to the energy transition, improved financing conditions for new projects, and the development of innovative technologies, including Small Modular Reactors.

Read also other news on Nova News

Click here and receive updates on WhatsApp

Follow us on the social channels of Nova News on Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Telegram

Italy supports “the Nuclear Alliance’s initiative to review the treatment of nuclear energy within the EU Taxonomy, recognizing…

[104
211,210,922,23411
post-41389","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-brussels","tag-belgium","tag-brussels","tag-nuclear","tag-picket
["GET
