(AP Photo\/Peter Dejong)<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Supporters of the ordinance, Haney says, hope it might help stabilize California\u2019s floundering legal cannabis industry while giving San Francisco\u2019s nightlife economy an added boost.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cThis is common sense legislation to allow cannabis businesses to sell food and non-alcoholic beverages for onsite consumption,\u201d said Mandelman. \u201cCannabis caf\u00e9s can support San Francisco\u2019s post-pandemic recovery, and they can help sustain a legal cannabis industry that struggles to compete with the unregulated illicit market.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">If the ordinance is adopted, San Francisco would become one of the first California cities to fully implement the model for expanded cannabis lounges authorized by state law.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
