Tickets for this service have been on sale since 13 March.

Last year, nearly 6 million passengers chose LTG Link trains, with around one third, or approximately 2 million, travelling on the Vilnius–Kaunas route.

Due to the strategic importance of this corridor and the growing number of passengers, the operator has decided to introduce the express service in order to improve the quality of rail connections. The Vilnius–Kaunas express train will run without intermediate stops, making the journey faster and more comfortable.

“The express service between the country’s two largest cities is another step towards making rail a convenient and reliable alternative to the car. At the same time, it strengthens our strategic ambition to become the backbone of transport across the country—a modern, sustainable solution tailored to people’s daily mobility needs,” said Kristina Meidė, CEO of LTG Link.

One hour by Vilnius–Kaunas express train

At present, trains operating on the Vilnius–Kaunas route stop at intermediate stations such as Lentvaris, Vievis, Kaišiadorys and Palemonas. The number of stops per journey can range from 3 to 15, with total travel times typically between 1 hour 10 minutes and 1 hour 20 minutes. The express train will not stop at intermediate stations, reducing the journey time between the two cities to approximately 59 minutes.

Due to temporary infrastructure works and traffic disruptions, journey times may vary; however, the express will remain the fastest way to travel by train between Vilnius and Kaunas.

Seat reservations will be available in both first and second class carriages on the Vilnius–Kaunas express, while passengers holding advance tickets will be able to occupy designated seats marked with stickers.

For added passenger comfort, the onboard catering offer has been expanded, with more substantial meals and hot drinks available during the journey. In addition, dynamic pricing will apply to tickets for this service, meaning that passengers who plan their journeys in advance will be able to purchase tickets at lower prices.

Share on:
<a class="synved-social-button synved-social-button-share synved-social-size-32 synved-social-resolution-single
