Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican Secretary of State, is in Denmark from Saturday, 24 January, until 26 January, serving as Papal Legate for the 1,200th anniversary of the beginning of Saint Ansgar\u2019s mission in the Nordic country. According to the programme published on the Secretariat of State\u2019s X account, @TerzaLoggia, the visit will conclude on Monday.<\/p>\n
Vespers and ecumenical encounters <\/p>\n
Saturday\u2019s programme includes participation in ecumenical Vespers at Copenhagen\u2019s Lutheran Cathedral (Vor Frue Domkirke), followed by meetings with diplomats and leaders of other Christian communities.<\/p>\n
On Sunday, 25 January, Cardinal Parolin will visit the Sankt Josefs Karmel monastery in Hiller\u00f8d, meet the Benedictine Sisters of Vor Frue Kloster in Birker\u00f8d, and preside at Mass in St Ansgar\u2019s Cathedral in Copenhagen, marking the anniversary celebrations.<\/p>\n
Diplomatic meetings <\/p>\n
On Monday, 26 January, the Secretary of State will pay a courtesy visit to King Frederik X of Denmark at Amalienborg Palace. He will then meet Foreign Minister Lars L\u00f8kke Rasmussen at Eigtveds Pakhus, before concluding his visit with a stop at the Redemptoris Mater Seminary in Vedb\u00e6k.<\/p>\n
