When he is not prioritising American healthcare or doing anything to stop the soaring prices of goods, he is planning to wage wars in foreign countries, which is in complete opposition to his “America-first” policies, which he heavily campaigned on ahead of the 2024 presidential elections.

Since the beginning of this year, Donald Trump has repeatedly shown a side of his personality that seeks to dominate people and the world. In his first year of the second term, this desire was mostly limited to America itself, but in the second year, it has expanded to international affairs. He started with Venezuela, then moved to Greenland, and now is in Cuba. In the case of Venezuela, he did not explicitly say he wanted to acquire it, but spoke about having boots on the ground. Regarding Greenland, Trump openly stated he wanted to control it because if he didn’t, Russia and China might, posing a security threat to the US. Now, with Cuba, Trump is again expressing a desire to “take” it in “some form”

Trump is no longer trying to hide his imperial plans

Yep, he thinks he is the ruler of the world. Then he tells them and us he is freeing them. I find that shit and his maga are still believing everything. Lol.

He still has 3 years and he will have someone in all the countries he takes over to help him run whichever countries…

— JenizFreedom (@Expose_Society) March 16, 2026

On March 17, 2026, Donald Trump invited the press to the Oval Office to discuss various topics, but the conversation mainly centred on Iran and the US’s involvement there after waging war on the country in February. However, it is not what he said about Iran during the interaction that is gaining traction on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter), but rather what he said about Cuba, which has been going viral due to how alarming his words sound.

In a particular moment from the event, Trump revealed that he wishes to have the “honour” of “taking” Cuba at some point. When the reporter on the other side tried to clarify if he was saying “taking Cuba,” Trump doubled down on his comments and said, “Taking Cuba. In some form, yeah. Taking Cuba… whether I free it or take it, I can do anything I want with it…They are a very weakened nation.”

JD Vance rubbishes rumours of a rift with Trump over Iran

During the conference held at the Oval Office on Tuesday, the Vice President of the United States, JD Vance, was also present alongside Donald Trump and took a few questions from the press. One of the topics he was asked about was his opinion regarding the US attacking Iran, after Trump had previously revealed that Vance held slightly different opinions from his, at least during the initial stages of the attack.

Playing it safe, Vance said, “So, I’m very happy about it. And look, I think that I know what you’re trying to do, Phil. You’re trying to drive a wedge between members of the administration, between me and the president. What the president said consistently, going back to 2015, and I agreed with him, is that Iran should not have a nuclear weapon. We have taken this military action under the president’s leadership. I think all of us, whether you’re a Democrat or Republican, should pray for success and pray for the safety of our troops. That’s the approach that I’ve taken. Make it as successful as possible.”

Have a tip we should know? [email protected]

            Sanchari Ghosh

Sanchari Ghosh is a political writer for The Mary Sue who enjoys keeping up with what’s going on in the world and sometimes reminding everyone what they should be talking about.
