{"id":43283,"date":"2026-03-19T03:35:13","date_gmt":"2026-03-19T03:35:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/43283\/"},"modified":"2026-03-19T03:35:13","modified_gmt":"2026-03-19T03:35:13","slug":"stockholm-says-iran-executed-swede-after-tehran-announces-spy-put-to-death","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/43283\/","title":{"rendered":"Stockholm says Iran executed Swede after Tehran announces spy put to death"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/topics\/sweden?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Sweden<\/a>\u2019s foreign minister on Wednesday said that Iran had executed a Swedish citizen, after Iranian authorities announced the first execution of a man convicted of spying since the start of its war against Israel and the United States.\u201cIt is with dismay that I have received information that a Swedish citizen was executed in <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/topics\/iran?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Iran<\/a> earlier today,\u201d Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Since the man\u2019s arrest during in June 2025, Sweden had \u201crepeatedly raised the case at various levels with Iranian representatives\u201d, she added.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cIn these contacts, we have emphasised Sweden\u2019s expectation that our citizen will receive a fair trial and not be sentenced to death,\u201d Stenergard said.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cIt is obvious to us that the legal process which led to the execution of the Swedish citizen was not conducted in accordance with the rule of law,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"A video grab taken from social media on Tuesday shows a vehicle from Iran\u2019s special police unit ablaze in Tehran\u2019s Enqelab Square.
