Greenland has been in the news a lot lately. <\/p>\n
A huge island in the Arctic, Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark. <\/p>\n
Recently, many countries have been talking about it because of politics and world security. <\/p>\n
Donald Trump the President of the United States has said publicly that he wants the US to control Greenland – saying it’s important strategically for the US military and any threat posed by Russia and China. <\/p>\n
But Greenland’s government, Denmark and other European countries such as the UK, say Greenland should decide its own future. <\/p>\n
Some world leaders have warned the US – which is threatening taxes (called tariffs) against European countries that disagree with his plans – that what they plan to do is not a good idea and could hurt cooperation.<\/p>\n
