In Brussels, during the European Union leaders\u2019 summit, the EU\u2019s top diplomat warned that the union could easily find itself in a toxic conflict in the Middle East from which it would be difficult to exit.<\/p>\n
The EU\u2019s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, delivered a speech at the European Council meeting in Brussels and warned against joining an open war against Iran, which she said is allegedly led by the United States and Israel.<\/p>\n
According to two diplomats who had been briefed on the speech\u2019s contents during closed-door talks, the summit was held behind closed doors and was oriented toward presidents and prime ministers.<\/p>\n
In her speech, Kallas stressed that the EU must avoid getting locked into a prolonged military campaign and maintain strategic autonomy in the region.<\/p>\n
