Today he said if you don\u2019t come, we will come and take Greenland. I want to tell the European Union, if you cannot keep your Greenland, just ask us, we will come to protect it,&#8221; the Iranian spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p id=\"2\" class=\"story_para_2\">Iran\u2019s remarks come amid the West Asia war. Iran has been under attack from Israel and the United States and has responded with counterstrikes since February 28. Tehran has also moved to shut the Strait of Hormuz in retaliation. Since then, Trump has urged NATO and EU allies to help the United States secure the key oil route.<\/p>\n<p id=\"3\" class=\"story_para_3\">Trump has also threatened to capture Iran\u2019s key oil hub, Kharg Island.<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s Greenland push<\/p>\n<p id=\"4\" class=\"story_para_4\">Trump revived his plan to acquire Greenland earlier this year, calling for \u201cimmediate negotiations&#8221; on national security grounds. No agreement has been reached as Denmark and Greenland have refused.<\/p>\n<p id=\"5\" class=\"story_para_5\">Trump also threatened tariffs of 10-25 per cent on European Union goods, including those from Denmark, Norway and Sweden, unless a deal was reached. He shared maps and AI images showing US flags over Greenland.<\/p>\n<p id=\"6\" class=\"story_para_6\">However, Denmark has said Greenland is not negotiable, while Greenland Prime Minister Nielsen has drawn a \u201cred line&#8221; on sovereignty. Trump has said it will happen \u201cone way or the other&#8221;, though he has ruled out using force, citing concerns over the Arctic and Russia. Tensions within NATO have increased since then.
