(WNYT) – A man, a woman and a 4-month-old infant are recovering at home after being stabbed in Amsterdam on Wednesday, and a suspect is in custody.

Chad A. Pacillo, 29, is facing multiple charges, including including three counts of attempted murder.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a man stabbing multiple people around 12:15 p.m. at a residence on Log City Road.

Montgomery County Sheriff Jeff Smith said investigators have not been able to determine a motive.

“There was a brief interaction between the suspect and the adult male victim prior to the stabbing, but nothing that would’ve predicated or justified this attack,” he said.

Pacillo left the property, but then returned in a vehicle and began stabbing the man, according to Smith.

“As the incident unfolded, the adult female exited into the garage area while holding the infant after hearing the disturbance. The suspect then stabbed both the adult female and the child,” he said.

The woman was able to get to safety. She called 911 and was able to stay on the phone, according to Smith.

The first units responded to the scene within 3 minutes, according to Smith. A taser was used.

“During the incident, the suspect attempted to force entry into the home, and even went after the family pet. He ultimately ended up in the driveway, where deputies safely took him into custody,” he said.

Pacillo was injured in the stabbing, according to Smith. He was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital, where he was treated and released.

All the victims were treated at Albany Medical Center and released. Their names are not being released.

Smith said about a month ago, there was a report of Pacillo trespassing at the home. After deputies responded and told him he was not allowed to be on the property, he left.

Smith said he is thankful that they are not talking bout three homicides.

“We are thankful they are expected to make full physical recoveries, although we recognize they will live with the emotional aftermath for the rest of their lives,” Smith said.

Pacillo was charged with three counts of attempted murder in the second degree, burglary in the first degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, two counts of attempted assault in the first degree, and one count of assault in the first degree. He was arraigned and sent to jail on bail of $100,000 cash or $300,000 bond.

Orders of protection were issued for the victims.

Pacillo has a criminal history. He was charged in 2021 with second-degree assault.

Montgomery County District Attorney Christina Pearson said Pacillo was sentenced to 2 years of probation in that case. He successfully completed that and was discharged early.

She said the case had potential justification of self-defense, so no jail was considered in that case.

Montgomery County Sheriff Jeff Smith gives a press conference about the arrest of Chad Pacillo, who is accused of stabbing a man, a woman and a 4-month-old infant.

For Related Stories: Link In Bio press conference Stabbing Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Fultonville Amsterdam

A man, woman and a 4-month-old infant are recovering at home after being stabbed in Amsterdam on Wednesday,…

[101
199,4577,4574,4576,200,4575,2056
0":"post-4784","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-amsterdam","8":"tag-amsterdam","9":"tag-fultonville","10":"tag-link-in-bio","11":"tag-montgomery-county-sheriffs-office","12":"tag-netherlands","13":"tag-press-conference","14":"tag-stabbing
["GET
