to the X accounts of several pro-Kurdish news outlets, journalists and civil society organizations, the Mezopotamya News Agency (MA) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mezopotamyaajansi44.com\/search\/content\/view\/307162?page=1&amp;key=beadfc5a556dd2ef8b682064d3614a6f\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The blocked accounts include those of pro-Kurdish news agencies Ajansa Welat, Med G\u00fcndem and Jin News as well as journalists <a href=\"https:\/\/stockholmcf.org\/turkey-blocks-x-account-of-afp-reporter-covering-kurdish-southeast\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mahmut Bozarslan<\/a> and Renas Vinar and civil society groups such as the Free Women\u2019s Movement (TJA).<\/p>\n<p>Authorities have not yet issued an official explanation for the bans, which came shortly after Nevruz celebrations over the past week, when police carried out mass <a href=\"https:\/\/stockholmcf.org\/turkey-detains-170-people-over-kurdish-nevruz-celebrations\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">detentions<\/a> on accusations of spreading terrorist propaganda.<\/p>\n<p>Ajansa Welat said it would continue broadcasting on X through a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/x.com\/amed_welat86076\" rel=\"nofollow\">new account<\/a>, while TJA shared\u00a0its\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:https:\/\/x.com\/NavendTJA\">updated X account<\/a>\u00a0with its followers after the ban.<\/p>\n<p>Press and civil society groups digital censorship has been cited by press freedom monitors as a key factor in the country\u2019s low ranking in global media freedom indices.<\/p>\n<p>The US-based democracy watchdog Freedom House\u2019s \u201c2025 Freedom on the Net\u201d report\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.turkishminute.com\/2025\/11\/14\/turkey-ranks-among-worlds-worst-for-internet-freedom-freedom-house\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">placed<\/a>\u00a0Turkey among the five countries with the steepest long-term declines in internet freedom.
