An explosion rocked the US Embassy in Norway, damaging the consulate amid Iranian threats of terror<\/a> retaliation as Operation Epic Fury rages on in the Middle East, according to police and reports.<\/p>\n

The blast erupted in Oslo around 1 a.m. local time Sunday, hitting the entrance to the embassy\u2019s consular section and causing minor damage, police incident commander Michael Delmer said, NRK reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt around 1 a.m. we received several reports of an explosion,\u201d he said, noting there were no casualties.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe arrived shortly afterward and confirmed that there had been an explosion that hit the US Embassy. There is minor damage. We are not going to comment on anything related to the type of damage, what it is that has exploded and similar details, because the fact that there has been an explosion.\u201d<\/p>\n

Delmer stressed the investigation is still in its early stages and it was not clear who was behind the blast.<\/p>\n

A 16-year-old who lives nearby told TV2 he heard the large blast while watching TV.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy mother and I first thought it came from our house so we looked around a little, but then we saw the flashing lights outside the window and a ton of police,\u201d the teen said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere were police dogs and drones and police with automatic weapons and helicopters in the air.\u201d<\/p>\n

A loud bang was heard around 1 a.m. local time. vg.no<\/p>\n

There is currently a heavy police presence at the embassy, according to local reports.\u00a0 Images from the scene showed police vehicle and armed officers outside the building.<\/p>\n

Police said\u00a0in an earlier statement<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0they are in contact with the embassy but have not yet determined the cause of the explosion.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe police are in dialogue with the embassy and no injuries have been reported,\u201d cops said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is currently no information about exactly what happened or who may be involved.\u201d<\/p>\n

The US Embassy is currently being guarded with large resources, according to the Oslo Police Department. vg.no<\/p>\n

US embassies across the Middle East have been placed on high alert as tensions continue to escalate following joint Israeli and American airstrikes on Iran last weekend.<\/p>\n

Soviet-designed\u00a0Katyusha rockets launched out of Iran allegedly targeted the US Embassy in Baghdad, Iran, hours earlier on Saturday, Reuters reported, citing sources and witnesses.<\/p>\n

Iraqi officials told the outlet that a Counter Rocket, Artillery, and Mortar (C-RAM) defense system was used to shoot the rocket down as explosions were heard near the embassy around 9 p.m.<\/p>\n

Video circulating on social media captured the C-RAM defense system shooting towards the potential threat.<\/p>\n

Bells can be heard ringing through the city before a cluster of shots is fired from the system ahead of a loud explosion in the background,\u00a0according to the video.<\/a><\/p>\n

No reports of explosions or injuries were reported from the potential strike.<\/p>\n

The conflict has impacted neighboring states as Tehran launches retaliatory attacks.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The US State Department did not immediately respond to The Post\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n
