{"id":53561,"date":"2026-04-01T21:21:14","date_gmt":"2026-04-01T21:21:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/53561\/"},"modified":"2026-04-01T21:21:14","modified_gmt":"2026-04-01T21:21:14","slug":"trump-plots-dramatic-greenland-military-push-with-special-forces-and-navy-set-to-deploy-as-buried-pact-opens-the-door","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/53561\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump plots dramatic Greenland military push with special forces and Navy set to DEPLOY&#8230; as buried pact opens the door"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"author-section byline-plain\">By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/profile-962\/jon-michael-raasch.html\" class=\"author\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">JON MICHAEL RAASCH, US POLITICAL REPORTER<\/a> <a rel=\"nofollow noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/intent\/follow?screen_name=JMRaasch&amp;tw_p=followbutton\" class=\"twitter-follow-author\"><\/a> <\/p>\n<p class=\"byline-section\"> Published:  15:48 EDT, 1 April 2026   |  Updated:  16:15 EDT, 1 April 2026   <\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">US military planners are pushing ahead to secure additional access to Greenland, the latest sign of <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/donald_trump\/index.html\" id=\"mol-25b66a00-2e02-11f1-aee3-e3278c5c01d5\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Donald Trump<\/a>&#8216;s sustained strategic interest in the Danish island.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/the-pentagon\/index.html\" id=\"mol-25d7d4b0-2e02-11f1-aee3-e3278c5c01d5\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Pentagon<\/a> and State Department are negotiating with Denmark for a &#8216;permanent presence&#8217; at three additional bases in Greenland, General Gregory Guillot told <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/us-congress\/index.html\" id=\"mol-25d58ac0-2e02-11f1-aee3-e3278c5c01d5\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Congress<\/a> in mid-March.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Guillot heads US Northern Command, which is responsible for defending the US homeland, <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/canada\/index.html\" id=\"mol-25d9f790-2e02-11f1-aee3-e3278c5c01d5\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Canada<\/a> and <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/mexico\/index.html\" id=\"mol-25dabae0-2e02-11f1-aee3-e3278c5c01d5\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Mexico<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Trump has warned that &#8216;Denmark cannot protect that land from <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/russia-ukraine-conflict\/index.html\" id=\"mol-d71dff50-2df9-11f1-b6a8-4bf2ea748846\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Russia<\/a> or <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/china\/index.html\" id=\"mol-d71b6740-2df9-11f1-b6a8-4bf2ea748846\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">China<\/a>,&#8217; and that <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/moscow\/index.html\" id=\"mol-05509c50-2e01-11f1-aee3-e3278c5c01d5\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Moscow<\/a> and <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/beijing\/index.html\" id=\"mol-05502720-2e01-11f1-aee3-e3278c5c01d5\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Beijing<\/a>&#8216;s vessels regularly transit off the coast of Greenland, as Arctic warming has opened up new routes that were frozen over.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Guillot confirmed at a <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/us-senate\/index.html\" id=\"mol-25d870f0-2e02-11f1-aee3-e3278c5c01d5\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Senate<\/a> Armed Services Committee hearing that negotiations with Denmark are moving ahead, with the US seeking &#8216;increased access to different bases across Greenland.&#8217;\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The US is negotiating access to three Greenland bases, two of them long-abandoned by American forces.
