The judge on Friday ordered the release of 18 of them pending trial.<\/p>\n<p>During Monday\u2019s hearing, \u0130mamo\u011flu reportedly took the floor and said, \u201cThere is only one criminal organization in this case. It is the prosecution.\u201d The remark prompted an immediate reaction from prosecutors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAn investigation has been launched by the Bak\u0131rk\u00f6y Chief Public Prosecutor\u2019s Office for the crime of \u2018insulting a public official in the performance of their duty\u2019 due to the words allegedly spoken by the defendant Ekrem \u0130mamo\u011flu during the hearing on April 6,\u201d the prosecutor\u2019s office said in a statement posted on X.<\/p>\n<p>\u0130mamo\u011flu was arrested in March of last year on a series of charges widely viewed by the opposition as an attempt to derail his prospects of challenging Erdo\u011fan at the ballot box.<\/p>\n<p>He has been held in pretrial detention since then.
