Troy Parrott will be wondering how he hasn\u2019t been credited with a 23rd goal of the season.<\/p>\n
AZ Alkmaar<\/a> were 1-0 up against Ajax Amsterdam<\/a> on Sunday afternoon when Parrott<\/a>, late in the second-half, looked to have headed home their second.<\/p>\n After lengthy celebrations, the referee went over to his monitor and, having reviewed the goal, he chalked it off.<\/p>\n To add insult to injury, Ajax scored an injury-time equaliser to take a point back to the capital.<\/p>\n Parrott only a few weeks ago scored a sensational hat-trick against the Dutch giants in a 6-0 KNVB Cup romp – his first treble since Ireland\u2019s<\/a> World Cup qualification win in Hungary.<\/p>\n He was visibly frustrated by the decision in Sunday\u2019s Eredivisie clash to deny him another goal against the team that this season is struggling to keep pace in the title race.<\/p>\n He was flagged for offside by the man in the middle after a VAR review – but replays only added to the confusion.<\/p>\n Parrott was clearly behind the last defender as he ran onto a flick and headed the ball into the back of the net.<\/p>\n He WAS standing in an offside position as a free-kick came in from the right, but he was back onside by the time the ball was flicked into his path.<\/p>\n You can watch the footage here:<\/p>\n Content cannot be displayed without consent<\/p>\n
