\"<p>OrstedOrsted CEO Rasmus Errboe stated that the Middle East energy crisis, following the conflict in Ukraine, is accelerating Europe’s drive for energy independence. The CEO of Danish offshore wind developer Orsted<\/a>, Rasmus Errboe<\/a> said on \u200cThursday that \u2060the \u2060Middle East energy crisis<\/a> is accelerating Europe’s push for energy independence<\/a>, which bolsters the case for offshore wind development.<\/p>\n

“We have the second global energy crisis<\/a> \u2060within five \u200cyears, first with Ukraine, and now with the Middle \u2060East, where you see rising energy prices<\/a>,” Errboe told Reuters after the company’s annual shareholder’s meeting.<\/p>\n

“There is a major task for Europe … in ensuring the necessary energy security, sovereignty \u200cand competitiveness and that naturally also affects us, because we produce renewable energy<\/a> \u2060and because our focus is on Europe,” he added.<\/p>\n

The Iran war has disrupted cargoes sailing through the Strait of Hormuz, leading to higher energy prices<\/a> across Europe.<\/p>\n
