The first female<br \/>\npresident of Finland, Tarja Halonen, visited the Azerbaijan House<br \/>\nin Helsinki, a statement of the State Committee on Work with<br \/>\nDiaspora of Azerbaijan, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.trend.az\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Trend<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting was held with the committee\u2019s support and organized<br \/>\nby the Helsinki Azerbaijan House. Head of the House, Ulviyya<br \/>\nJabbarova, warmly welcomed Tarja Halonen and described the visit as<br \/>\nimportant and a source of pride.<\/p>\n<p>Halonen shared positive views about Azerbaijan and emphasized<br \/>\nthe special role of culture in strengthening relations between the<br \/>\ntwo countries. She noted that concerts, cultural events, and the<br \/>\npromotion of Azerbaijan\u2019s rich national cuisine can serve as<br \/>\neffective tools to further develop ties.<\/p>\n<p>During the meeting, Finland\u2019s former ambassador to Azerbaijan,<br \/>\nGeorgia, and Armenia, Kirsti Narinen, highlighted the 29th session<br \/>\nof the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on<br \/>\nClimate Change, COP29, held in Baku. She spoke about the successful<br \/>\ninitiatives carried out by the Helsinki Azerbaijan House during<br \/>\nthat period.<\/p>\n<p>Then, teacher Sura Aghaverdiyeva discussed the importance of<br \/>\npreserving the Azerbaijani language in Finland and passing it on to<br \/>\nfuture generations, noting that the mother tongue is a key pillar<br \/>\nof national identity for compatriots living abroad.<\/p>\n<p>The event featured a video presentation about the activities of<br \/>\nthe Azerbaijan House. Classical and national music pieces were<br \/>\nperformed by young musician Mona Savojifar, coordinator for Finland<br \/>\nof the Coordination Council of Azerbaijanis of Scandinavia, and<br \/>\nLeyla Huseynova from the Helsinki Opera.
