Now it&#8217;s turning into anger,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>The official went on to say that even though Trump appears to have backed off from seeking to take over Greenland, &#8220;he has never been taking that desire to own or control Greenland off the table.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Asked if he still believes the U.S. could use force to get concessions from Denmark and the island, especially considering the operation that captured Venezuela&#8217;s former authoritarian President Nicolas Maduro earlier this year, he said &#8220;of course.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Greenlandic people, a lot of them thought that way: We might be next,&#8221; Nielsen said. &#8220;And I know other countries also think like that.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Different <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latintimes.com\/denmark-used-military-drills-disguise-actual-preparations-resist-potential-us-invasion-595817\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">reports <\/a>have recounted that Denmark has taken Trump&#8217;s rhetoric seriously. In fact, the country used military drills to disguise actual preparations to resist a potential<a href=\"https:\/\/www.latintimes.com\/topics\/united-states\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"> U.S.<\/a> invasion earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>Danish outlet DR <a href=\"https:\/\/www.infobae.com\/espana\/2026\/03\/19\/dinamarca-camuflo-en-el-ejercicio-arctic-endurance-un-despliegue-militar-real-en-groenlandia-por-temor-a-una-invasion-de-estados-unidos-ante-las-amenazas-de-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">claimed <\/a>that the &#8220;Arctic Endurance&#8221; drill included an actual deployment of troops with blood reserves and explosives.
