Wagon Wheel Theatre has scheduled auditions for upcoming productions of \u201cFootloose\u201d and \u201cCarousel.\u201d<\/p>\n
Children are sought for \u201cCarousel\u201d with auditions at 5:30 p.m. May 2 for ages 11 to 14 and at 6:30 p.m. for ages 15 to 18.<\/p>\n
The theater is seeking adults ages 30 and older for \u201cFootloose\u201d with auditions at 8 p.m. May 2.<\/p>\n
Auditions are at Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts, 2515 E. Center St., Warsaw. Details are available at WagonWheelCenter.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n The shows are part of the professional theater\u2019s summer season. \u201cCarousel\u201d will run June 18 to 27, and \u201cFootloose\u201d is July 2 to 11.<\/p>\n City helps inspire song<\/p>\n A New Jersey band has released a single inspired by a songwriter\u2019s family history in Fort Wayne.<\/p>\n Indie rock band Highland Cinema released \u201cCloser (Fort Wayne, 1949)\u201d on streaming platforms April 3. Writer Craig Arthur was inspired by a silent film of his grandparents\u2019 1949 wedding. It was shot outside what was then St. Andrew\u2019s Church on New Haven Avenue.<\/p>\n \u201cI was so moved after seeing the silent wedding day film, I initially thought it needed some music to it \u2013 and then I decided I should just make my own music for it,\u201d Arthur says in a news release. \u201cIt was amazing to see my grandparents so young and before they had any kids. I was really able to relate to it and see myself and my wife in the video when thinking about our own wedding day.\u201d<\/p>\n Patty and Butch Woehnker were lifelong Fort Wayne residents, according to the release. Arthur\u2019s parents met in the city before moving east.<\/p>\n The song is the opening track on the band\u2019s debut, full-length album, \u201cLP1,\u201d which is out now on streaming platforms.
