\n\tEXCLUSIVE: Bill Nighy<\/a> has joined the starry cast of Morten Tyldum\u2019s\u00a0Ibelin<\/a>, re-telling the inspirational true story of late disabled Norwegian gamer Mats Steen, as production gets underway in Norway.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Oscar-nominated actor (Living) joins previously announced cast member<\/a>s Charlie Plummer, Stephen Graham, Toni Collette, Isabela Merced, and Maisy Stella. <\/p>\n

\n\tFurther cast additions include Ekow Quartey (The Arbiter), Kirby Howell-Baptiste (Barry), Ivanna Sakhno (M3gan 2.0, John Bradley (Game of Thrones) Jax James (Grantchester), and newcomer Clodagh Bhalla.<\/p>\n

\n\tBorn with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, which gradually saw him lose control of his limbs, Steen connected with the outside world through the gaming world where he lived another life under the name of his heroic alter ego \u2018Ibelin\u2019 in the\u00a0World of Warcraft game.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film recounts Steen\u2019s inspirational story with his popular online persona belying his increasingly restricted physical reality, as the degenerative muscular disease took away his body, but never his spirit. <\/p>\n

\n\tIlaria Bernardini wrote the screenplay with current revisions by Hossein Amini, from Steen\u2019s blog \u201cMusings of Life\u201d.<\/p>\n

\n\tVend\u00f4me Pictures\u2019 Philippe Rousselet and Fabrice Gianfermi are producing alongside J\u00e9r\u00f4me Seydoux at Path\u00e9 and Tyldum and Guri Neby for Neby-Tyldum AS. Vend\u00f4me and Path\u00e9, which previously partnered on Best Picture Oscar winner Coda, are co-financing the film.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs well as his Oscar nominated performance in Living, Nighy is also known of his roles in\u00a0Love, Actually,\u00a0Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man\u2019s Chest,\u00a0About Time, Emma, and\u00a0Chalet Girl. <\/p>\n

\n\tFirst hitting the big screen in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Quartey\u2019s more recent credits include the BAFTA-nominated series Amandaland, Becoming Elizabeth and This Way Up.<\/p>\n

\n\tHowell-Baptiste is most known for her roles in the feature films\u00a0Cruella,\u00a0Queenpins and\u00a0We Strangers\u00a0as well as series credits Sugar and Barry. Sakhno\u2019a credits include Ahsoka, Pacific Rim: Uprising, and\u00a0M3GAN 2.0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tBradley is best known for his performances as Samwell Tarly in Game of Thrones and Jack Rooney in 3 Body Problem, with more recent credits including Merry Christmas Aubrey Flint\u00a0and Deadpoint.<\/p>\n
