A key component is the proposed USD 2 billion (\u20b917,000 crore) expansion of APM Terminals Pipavav in Gujarat, in collaboration with the Gujarat Maritime Board.<\/p>\n<p>Our goal is to make Pipavav a model of world-class efficiency and green growth, while creating lasting prosperity for local communities and strengthening India\u2019s leadership in maritime trade.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026 saod Jon Goldner, Chief Executive, APM Terminals Asia &amp; Middle East\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The project, contingent on a long-term concession agreement, aims to enhance container and liquid cargo handling capabilities, improve multimodal connectivity, and position Pipavav as a model for world-class efficiency, sustainability, and local economic development.<\/p>\n<p>Deepening engagement with India\u2019s maritime ecosystem<\/p>\n<p>Maersk is also deepening its engagement with India\u2019s domestic maritime ecosystem. It has registered a new entity, Maersk Bharat IFSC Pvt. Ltd., at GIFT City, Gujarat, and flagged two vessels under the Indian flag, supporting domestic tonnage and supply chain resilience.<\/p>\n<p>By flagging vessels under the Indian flag, manufacturing seaworthy containers in India and engaging local yards for maintenance and repair work, we\u2019re not just expanding our operational flexibility; we\u2019re investing in the development of India\u2019s maritime ecosystem and demonstrating our belief in the country\u2019s technical capabilities.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026 explained Ahmed Hassan, Head of Asset Strategy, A.P. Moller \u2013 Maersk<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the company is collaborating with Indian shipyards for vessel maintenance, repair, and potential new-building projects, as well as exploring local container manufacturing.<\/p>\n<p>To remind, earlier this year, Maersk and Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore <a href=\"https:\/\/safety4sea.com\/maersk-looks-to-indias-maritime-shipbuilding-capabilities\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">collaboration opportunities in ship repair, maintenance, and building activities in India.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>These efforts aim to strengthen India\u2019s maritime capabilities, promote knowledge transfer, and create employment opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>Investing in maritime talent<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Maersk is investing in maritime talent by partnering with educational institutions and skill development organizations.
