Multiple people have been injured after two trains crashed into each other in Denmark.<\/p>\n

The two trains collided head-on around 6.30am just north of Hiller\u00f8d, North Zealand, about 25 miles above Copenhagen, on a line linking the towns \u200bof Hiller\u00f8d and Kagerup.<\/p>\n

Police have said there are at least five to ten people injured, according to Danish public broadcaster DR.<\/p>\n

At least four are in a critical condition, DR reports.<\/p>\n

The incident prompted a huge emergency response for what police called a major accident.<\/p>\n

Injured people have been transported from the scene by helicopter and ambulance, the Greater Copenhagen Fire Department said on X.<\/p>\n

“I am deeply shaken and shocked and my thoughts are with all those involved,” Trine Egetved, the mayor of Gribskov Municipality – an area just north of the accident – wrote in a post on Facebook.<\/p>\n

“The local track is used by many Gribskov citizens, employees and pupils.<\/p>\n

“Emergency services are working at full pressure, and we are trying from the central team to get an overview of what has happened more accurately and make sure that everyone gets the help they need.”<\/p>\n

A large emergency response that has been rolled out, with at least 60 people at the scene, said Martin Schmidt, operations chief at the Greater Copenhagen Fire Department.<\/p>\n

Traffic around the site has been impacted and people are being urged to find alternative routes.<\/p>\n

Photos show the smashed front ends of the trains, although both remain upright on the tracks.<\/p>\n
