Thanks to the streaming wars, there’s too much content for the average consumer to watch in a given year, but that hasn’t stopped platforms from creating new movies and TV shows with each passing month.<\/p>\n
The unfortunate reality is that even quality shows might get canceled if they don’t get enough eyeballs.<\/p>\n
Peacock Cancels 2 Shows<\/p>\n
Peacock experienced that harsh reality earlier this month when it’s new show<\/a> highlighted by a strong performance from Simu Liu came to a screeching halt. Despite a scoring a stout 71% from critics and 80% from fans on Rotten Tomatoes, The Copenhagen Test was canceled after just one season.<\/p>\n Liu took to social media to address the cancellation after just one season.<\/p>\n “Thanks to everyone who watched The Copenhagen Test! Sadly Alexander and Michelle\u2019s journey ends here,” he said on social media after the news broke. “Endlessly proud of our cast and crew for pouring their heart and souls into this show. Looking forward to carrying my producing experience into the next opportunity!”<\/p>\n Law & Order: Organized Crime was another show hit with a surprise cancellation this month, sparking a strong response from Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay.<\/p>\n “I saw it and burst out in tears, first of all,” Hargitay told\u00a0Extra<\/a>\u00a0this week while watching Christopher Meloni’s reaction. “I immediately burst out in tears because it has, just like he said, and he was so beautiful and open \u2014 because it has been a great ride. And it has been so beautiful and intimate and such a huge part of his life and was life-changing for him.”<\/p>\n She added, “It kind of took me by surprise because I knew and Chris is working and in demand and such a magnificent actor. But it’s, in a way, closing a chapter. So when that happens, one needs to take inventory. It’s a real marker in your life.”<\/p>\n Amazon Prime Video Also Cancels 2 Shows<\/p>\n The latest cancellation from Prime Video was expected, but still hurt fans when it was announced as Gen V ended after just two season.<\/p>\n \u201cWhile we wish we could keep the party going another season at Godolkin, we\u2019re committed to continuing the\u00a0Gen V\u00a0characters\u2019 stories in\u00a0The Boys\u00a0Season 5 and other VCU projects on the horizon,\u201d VCU executive producers Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg said. \u201cYou\u2019ll see them again.\u201d<\/p>\n While\u00a0Gen V\u00a0is over and\u00a0The Boys is coming to a close after a five-season run on May 20, the franchise\u00a0continues with spinoff\u00a0Vought Rising\u00a0\u2013 set to debut in 2027.<\/p>\n The Runarounds was “quietly” canceled by Prime Video after just one season, according to Deadline<\/a>. <\/p>\n \u201cToday, we found out as many of you did that The Runarounds TV show will not be coming back for a season 2,\u201d the band wrote on Instagram. \u201cFirst and foremost we want you to know that while the TV sieres may have come to a close, as a band we\u2019re here to stay.
