{"id":69686,"date":"2026-04-27T19:50:11","date_gmt":"2026-04-27T19:50:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/69686\/"},"modified":"2026-04-27T19:50:11","modified_gmt":"2026-04-27T19:50:11","slug":"taylor-swift-files-trademarks-to-protect-voice-image-from-ai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/69686\/","title":{"rendered":"Taylor Swift files trademarks to protect voice, image from AI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Taylor Swift has <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/music\/news\/taylor-swift-trademark-voice-likeness-ai-misuse-1236731401\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">filed to trademark<\/a> two voice clips and an image of her in concert in an apparent attempt to shore up her identity against AI incursions.<\/p>\n<p>Her company, TAS Rights Management, LLC, filed three applications Friday with the U.S. Patent &amp; Trademark Office \u2014 one for the audio of her saying, \u201cHey, it\u2019s Taylor Swift,\u201d and another for \u201cHey, it\u2019s Taylor,\u201d known as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theiplawblog.com\/2009\/11\/articles\/trademark-law\/sound-marks-registration-basics\/#:~:text=According%20to%20United%20States%20Patent,the%20case%20of%20sound%20marks.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">sound marks<\/a>. The third is a photo of her holding a pink guitar, wearing a \u201cmulticolored iridescent bodysuit with silver boots\u201d and standing on a particular stage.<\/p>\n<p>This follows actor Matthew McConaughey\u2019s recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/tech\/ai\/matthew-mcconaughey-trademarks-himself-to-fight-ai-misuse-8ffe76a9?st=3iQAXY&amp;reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">eight trademark approvals<\/a> from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for numerous images and his \u201cDazed and Confused\u201d catchphrase, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2026\/01\/15\/matthew-mcconaughey-trademarks-alright-alright-alright-catchphrase-to-protect-against-ai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Alright, alright, alright<\/a>,\u201d part of an overall attempt to put the kibosh on any AI apps\u2019 or users\u2019 attempts to hijack his likeness and voice, he stated at the time.<\/p>\n<p>While U.S. law already protects songs under copyright law, and use of a person\u2019s likeness or image falls under \u201cRight of Publicity\u201d laws, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gerbenlaw.com\/blog\/taylor-swift-moves-to-trademark-her-voice-and-image-as-ai-threats-grow\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">AI has changed the landscape<\/a>, trademark attorney Josh Gerben of Gerben IP explained in his intellectual-property blog.<\/p>\n<p>Filings such as Swift\u2019s and McConaughey\u2019s add an extra layer of protection by prohibiting \u201cconfusingly similar\u201d imitations, Gerber wrote. (Getty)<\/p>\n<p>Neither Swift\u2019s nor McConaughey\u2019s filings have been tested in court, though Gerben said \u201cthe legal theories behind the filings are strong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The pop superstar\u2019s Tas Rights Management has filed more than 300 trademark applications in the U.S. and 400-plus worldwide, the United Nations\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wipo.int\/en\/web\/about-wipo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">World Intellectual Property Organization<\/a> noted in August 2025. They range from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wipo.int\/en\/web\/wipo-magazine\/articles\/taylor-swift-trademark-strategy-a-model-for-artist-ip-protection-78728\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">song titles to tour names to her three cats\u2019 names<\/a>, WIPO said,\u00a0a \u201cmodel for artist IP protection.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Swift and McConaughey are far from alone in fearing AI\u2019s unauthorized use of their likeness and voice. In January, more than 700 creators signed a proclamation <a href=\"https:\/\/ipcloseup.com\/2026\/01\/27\/celeb-and-other-creators-denounce-a-i-theft-in-a-series-of-bold-new-york-times-ads\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">denouncing such use as theft<\/a> and ran ads in The New York Times, the intellectual property blog IP CloseUp reported.<\/p>\n<p>Swift\u2019s likeness has shown up in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2024\/01\/09\/taylor-swift-le-creuset-deepfake-ai-generated-le-creuset-ads\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">AI fakes<\/a> from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2025\/12\/10\/taylor-swift-white-supremacist-nazi-rumor-bots-study\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">chatbots<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/taylor-swift-ai-images-protecttaylorswift-nonconsensual-d5eb3f98084bcbb670a185f7aeec78b1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">porn images<\/a> to Donald <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2024\/08\/19\/donald-trump-accepts-swifties-for-trump-support\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Trump\u2019s AI-fueled fake presidential endorsement<\/a> in August 2024.
