{"id":70054,"date":"2026-04-28T09:04:18","date_gmt":"2026-04-28T09:04:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/70054\/"},"modified":"2026-04-28T09:04:18","modified_gmt":"2026-04-28T09:04:18","slug":"gallery-tallinn-tartu-kuressaare-welcome-2026-with-concerts-and-celebrations-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/70054\/","title":{"rendered":"Gallery: Tallinn, Tartu, Kuressaare welcome 2026 with concerts and celebrations | News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>People gathered in towns across Estonia on New Year&#8217;s Eve, to say goodbye to 2025 and hello to 2026.<\/p>\n<p>In the capital, crowds gathered on Tallinn&#8217;s Vabaduse v\u00e4ljak (Freedom Square) to watch a lightshow and a concert.<\/p>\n<p>Before the official countdown to 2026 began, there were performances by Synne Valtri Band, 5MIINUST, and Terminaator.<\/p>\n<p>As in previous years, the city did not organise a fireworks show \u2013 although other residents still released the illuminations over the capital \u2013 but a light show thrilled the crowds, moving in sync with the music.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/3142726h2e25t28.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Tartu welcomes 2026<\/p>\n<p>Tartu saw in the new year with a free live concert on Vabaduse puiestee featuring music from Raul Ojamaa and Jon Hazel.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/3143714h5f39t28.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>PPA kept busy in Kuressaare<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile in Kuressaare, capital of Saaremaa, 2026 was seen in at the town&#8217;s central square, accompanied by the lively sounds of dance music.<\/p>\n<p>The local government has picked music instead of fireworks on New Year&#8217;s Eve for several years now, though this did not stop plenty of local residents from illuminating the skies over Kuressaare with fireworks of their own.<\/p>\n<p>The evening was as busy for the Police and Border Guard Board (PPA) as it was in the rest of the country.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The common denominator that caused challenges for the police was alcohol and its abuse.
