What would Star Wars be without the legendary glowing blades that clash together with a distinctive ring during lightsaber duels between Jedi, Sith, and the Mandalorians? The lightsaber or laser sword and the darksaber are an essential part of Star Wars fan culture and have now become, albeit without the blade, part of an entire series of LEGO lightsaber sets. We\u2019d like to give you an overview of these in this post.<\/p>\n

With the reveal of the LEGO 40917 The Darksaber GWP for May the 4th 2026<\/a>, we\u2019re already at lightsaber number four on the list of lightsaber models, which means we can already speak of an unofficial collection \u2013 even though LEGO doesn\u2019t explicitly label it as a series and the box designs sometimes differ significantly. While we\u2019ve already published individual reveal posts for each sword model, we\u2019d like to give you an overview of all the LEGO Star Wars lightsabers released so far with this article. We keep this article continuously updated, so you\u2019ll also find any possible future lightsaber sets here.<\/p>\n

The LEGO Star Wars Lightsabers<\/p>\n

The start of the (unofficial) lightsaber series in 2020 was made by LEGO Yoda\u2019s Lightsaber (5006290) \u2013 back then still with a seven-digit 500-series number and yellow box design. Since then, more and more lightsaber sets have appeared at irregular intervals of 1 to 3 years. We\u2019ve compiled these for you in the following graphic:<\/p>\n

In the further course of the article, we\u2019ll introduce the sets to you individually once more and show you all available images. We also assign the saber hilts to the respective people who fought with them. LEGO 5006290 Yoda\u2019s Lightsaber<\/p>\n

The LEGO Star Wars 5006290 Yoda\u2019s Lightsaber consists of 140 pieces and is displayed on a small presentation stand and is even provided with its own nameplate.<\/p>\n

Apparently, the lightsaber shows only the hilt and not the entire lightsaber with extended blade. The gift with purchase for buying the LEGO Star Wars 75290 Mos Eisley Cantina comes with a yellow outer box, first introduced with the red 2\u00d74 brick. A printed cover is \u201cinserted\u201d in a hole in the front of the box and thus probably seems less high-quality than many other gifts with purchase.<\/p>\n

LEGO 40483 Luke Skywalker\u2019s Lightsaber<\/p>\n

The lightsaber in the set LEGO 40483 Luke Skywalker\u2019s Lightsaber consists of 173 pieces and, unlike Yoda\u2019s lightsaber, is not packaged in a yellow \u201cVIP box,\u201d but for the first time for a lightsaber model in a box in LEGO 18+ design.<\/p>\n

The set was available on November 26, 2021, only together with the LEGO Star Wars 75313 UCS AT-AT. Just like with the previous lightsaber, the included plaque is printed.<\/p>\n

Strictly speaking, however, this is not actually Luke\u2019s own lightsaber, but rather the lightsaber of his father, Anakin Skywalker, which Luke inherited through Obi-Wan Kenobi. This fits insofar as this is naturally the lightsaber with which Luke attacks the AT-AT at the beginning of Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. At the end of the film, he loses the lightsaber and then builds his own between Episode V and VI.<\/p>\n

The LEGO Star Wars lightsaber in the set LEGO 40730 Luke Skywalker\u2019s Lightsaber is Luke Skywalker\u2019s new lightsaber, consists of 145 pieces and comes with a printed plaque and a black stand \u2013 the latter corresponds in its construction to that of the direct predecessor.<\/p>\n

This lightsaber is the model that Luke Skywalker first carried in Return of the Jedi (Episode VI: Return of the Jedi) after he lost the lightsaber inherited from his father at the end of Episode V.<\/p>\n

LEGO 40917 The Darksaber<\/p>\n

The legendary weapon that in \u201cThe Mandalorian\u201d is first wielded by Moff Gideon, then by Din Djarin, later by Bo-Katan, the \u201cDarksaber,\u201d is built from 278 pieces in the set LEGO The Darksaber (40917)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With such a piece count, it would naturally have been difficult to also design the dark blade of the sword. Therefore, the set \u2013 just like the 2024 GWP, Luke Skywalker\u2019s Lightsaber (40730) \u2013 is the buildable sword hilt complete with presentation stand and printed nameplate.<\/p>\n

What distinguishes the LEGO lightsabers?<\/p>\n

All LEGO lightsaber sets represent completely individual melee weapons, but nevertheless have some commonalities that make the sets a kind of series, such as with the Helmet Collection<\/a> \u2013 with the difference that the series of sword hilts hasn\u2019t received an official name from LEGO.<\/p>\n

\"LEGO<\/a><\/p>\n

Without exception, all lightsabers are gifts with purchase that are or were available exclusively at LEGO.com \u2013 so none of the sets have appeared regularly in retail so far. This makes them very sought-after and sometimes very high-priced items on platforms like eBay. In addition, all models include a buildable, black presentation stand with a printed nameplate on which the sword can be displayed. Unlike many display sets in the Ultimate Collector Series<\/a>, the lightsaber sets contain no minifigures. It would actually also be a difficult undertaking to select the appropriate character for it, since many swords had multiple owners after all. With the exception of the first LEGO lightsaber set, all models are also wrapped in a typical black 18+ box and the piece count ranges from 140 to just under 300 pieces.<\/p>\n
