The HBO Max<\/a> streaming release date for a post-apocalyptic action sequel starring Gerard Butler has been set. Following its arrival, it flopped at the box office. It also garnered a mixed critical response, although Butler\u2019s performance received some praise.<\/p>\n

Greenland 2: Migration debuts on HBO Max in May<\/p>\n

Greenland 2: Migration, the sequel to 2020\u2019s Greenland, will reach a wider audience via HBO Max on May 8, 2026. The film originally premiered in Austria on January 6 before launching in theaters across the United States on January 9.<\/p>\n

Ric Roman Waugh directed the movie, marking his fourth collaboration with Gerard Butler. The pair previously worked together in the aforementioned Greenland, Kandahar (2023), and Angel Has Fallen (2019). Meanwhile, Mitchell LaFortune and Chris Sparling co-wrote the screenplay, with the latter reprising his duty from the previous installment.<\/p>\n

In addition to starring, Butler co-produced with Waugh, John Zois, S\u00e9bastien Raybaud, Erica Lee, Basil Iwanyk, Alan Siegel, and Brendon Boyea. The supporting cast includes Morena Baccarin, Roman Griffin Davis, Tommie Earl Jenkins, Amber Rose Revah, and Sophie Thompson, among others.<\/p>\n

Following its theatrical release, the film made<\/a> around $44.8 million globally against its estimated $90 million budget. This is lower than the worldwide gross of its predecessor, which earned roughly $52.3 million globally against a lower budget of $35 million.<\/p>\n

On Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>, it holds a mediocre approval rating of 48%, but a higher audience score of 66%. Meanwhile, Metacritic<\/a> has given it a \u201cmixed or average\u201d Metascore and user score of 49 and 4.4, respectively.<\/p>\n

The film\u2019s synopsis reads, \u201cHaving found the safety of the Greenland bunker after the comet Clarke decimated the Earth, the Garrity family must now risk everything to embark on a perilous journey across the wasteland of Europe to find a new home.\u201d<\/p>\n
