Bill Maher<\/a> isn\u2019t fully on board with President Donald Trump<\/a>\u2018s aspirations to acquire Greenland, but he is fascinated by the idea.<\/p>\n

\u201cPresidents have thought about Greenland before. OK. But then, of course, it\u2019s insane to say we\u2019re going to take it by force. That was crazy. But you know, Greenland, is it the craziest idea anybody has ever had? No,\u201d he said on the Monday, February 9, episode<\/a> of his Club Random podcast. \u201cAnd could it be super valuable? Yes. Is it worth making the whole world hate us? No.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maher added, \u201cThere\u2019s always just a middle ground, even on something like Greenland, which, by the way, before he came along, I had never been thinking about. But maybe we should have. Maybe we should have. That also should be on the table.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maher\u2019s podcast guest, Adam Carolla<\/a>, pointed out that there have been other promises made by Trump that never came to fruition. \u201cHe has bunches of different ideas. He has [said,] \u2018Let\u2019s make Canada the 51st state,\u2019 but I think he\u2019s just talking,\u201d Carolla stated. \u201cThere\u2019s the stuff he does do that everyone says is never gonna work, but it does, and then there\u2019s the stuff he doesn\u2019t do that he probably never was gonna do. But most interestingly enough, I guess with Trump, is he brings up a lot of stuff where you go, \u2018I never thought of that. I never thought about Greenland.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Carolla continued, \u201cSometimes when he goes, \u2018Why don\u2019t we take Palestine and make it into a golf resort and have beautiful, it\u2019ll be like Miami Beach?\u2019 Everyone\u2019s first impulse is, \u2018This is outrageous.\u2019 And then the next one is like, \u2018I don\u2019t know, maybe there\u2019s something there.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Maher said that at the end of the day, Trump is \u201calways over the top, the way he describes anything.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump has expressed interest in having Greenland join the U.S. in order to ensure the security of the country and our NATO allies, per CBS News<\/a>. Trump previously teased that force could be used to occupy the territory. \u201cI\u2019d love to make a deal with them. It\u2019s easier. But one way or the other, we\u2019re going to have Greenland,\u201d he said on January 11, per CBS News<\/a>. \u201cIf we don\u2019t do it the easy way, we\u2019re going to do it the hard way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maher previously weighed in<\/a> on Trump\u2019s Greenland goals on the January 23 episode of Real Time With Bill Maher<\/a>, stating, \u201cGreenland \u2014 I thought he forgot about it. Remember, at the beginning of the term, it was Greenland? And then it was like, OK, sometimes the brain farts pass. \u2026 But this past week, it was all like, \u2018We\u2019re gonna take it by force!\u2019 By force? Pete Hegseth<\/a> got so excited, he droned a dog sled.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bringing up Trump\u2019s attendance at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Maher added, \u201cHe kept saying Iceland when he met Greenland,\u201d the stand-up comedian pointed out. \u201cWhich is so awkward when you\u2019re f***ing one country and yell out the name of another. \u2026 But, miracle of miracles, he said in a speech, \u2018No, actually we don\u2019t want to use force now.\u2019 OK? Great. And not even the tariffs, he threatened that, too. No, all unneeded because we are declaring victory for a problem that wasn\u2019t there until he made it.\u201d<\/p>\n
