Leeds United<\/a> have reportedly targeted Union Berlin centre-back Danilho Doekhi<\/a> on a free transfer, due to see his contract expire at the end of this season.<\/p>\n

United\u2019s focus is solely on getting three points against Burnley this Friday, but there should be confidence that we\u2019re staying in the division now.<\/p>\n

However, as the season comes to an end, the 49ers will have players on the shortlist that are coming into view already.<\/p>\n

Fabrizio Romano<\/a> has reported this week that Leeds are one of multiple clubs interested in signing Danilho Doekhi on a free transfer<\/a>, once his Union Berlin contract comes to an end.<\/p>\n

The Dutch youth international has been an ever-present for the Bundesliga side since the start of last season, and has impressed in that time.<\/p>\n

With Leeds, Borussia Dortmund and Saudi Arabian clubs all alerted to a free transfer opportunity, the Whites could be getting a bargain if we win the race.<\/p>\n

Doekhi, 27, was a supposed target of Leeds\u2019 in the January window. Heavily linked with Elland Road, his situation hasn\u2019t changed since, expected to leave the German capital for free.<\/p>\n

I understand if anyone doesn\u2019t want to get hopes up for new signings when we\u2019ve got survival still to wrap up.<\/p>\n

What jumps out immediately when considering the sort of player Doekhi could be for us is his aerial presence and physical prowess. Leeds\u2019 shift to a back five has seen us focus heavily on that aspect of the game, and Doekhi slots straight in on the right side of a three.<\/p>\n

Described as \u201cseriously impressive\u201d by Como scout Ben Mattinson<\/a> due to his physical strength and threat in the air, the 6ft3in man could help elevate Leeds\u2019 defence even further.<\/p>\n

Spoken about Danilho Doekhi before, was seriously impressive last season for Union Berlin. Could be a good opportunity for a mid table team or even a back up for a top team at a lower fee too.<\/p>\n

Doekhi has netted five times in the Bundesliga this season. Of those five, four have those came as braces against Borussia Monchengladbach and Champions League semi-finalists Bayern Munich, netting twice against Vincent Kompany\u2019s men from scrappy set-pieces. His fifth came last time out against RB Leipzig at the weekend.<\/p>\n

As Leeds hope to build for a second season in the top flight, continuing to add goals throughout the squad will be vital. Doekhi\u2019s threat from set-pieces is a massive green flag.<\/p>\n
