Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners completes acquisition of \u00d8rsted\u2019s European onshore platform and launches\u00a0Perigus\u00a0Energy\u00a0<\/p>\n
A new onshore renewable energy company has launched in Europe: Perigus Energy\u00a0<\/p>\n
Headquartered in Cork,\u00a0Perigus\u00a0Energy\u00a0operates\u00a0in Ireland, Germany, the United\u00a0Kingdom\u00a0and Spain with an operational and under construction capacity of 826 MW and a multi-gigawatt development pipeline\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
A\u00a0new chapter for European onshore renewables begins today with the launch of Perigus Energy, following the completion of Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners\u2019 (CIP) acquisition of \u00d8rsted\u2019s European onshore business, through its fifth flagship fund, CI V. Formerly part of \u00d8rsted, the business takes on a new name, identity and ambition as Perigus\u00a0Energy. As part of its new structure, Perigus Energy has selected Cork as its European headquarters, underlining Ireland\u2019s strategic importance to the business.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0Perigus\u00a0Energy aims to support Europe\u2019s energy security and transition by developing,\u00a0building\u00a0and\u00a0operating onshore\u00a0wind, solar and battery storage projects in Ireland, Germany,\u00a0the United Kingdom and Spain.\u00a0Today, its portfolio delivers clean,\u00a0home-grown\u00a0and reliable electricity to power the equivalent of circa 600,000 European homes, with five further projects currently under construction in Ireland and Germany. \u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0Perigus Energy already has a strong presence in Ireland through its existing portfolio of 373 MW of operational onshore wind farms and 179 MW of projects currently under construction across the island of Ireland. Its people, assets, construction projects and development pipeline in Ireland are unaffected by the transaction.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0Perigus\u00a0Energy has\u00a0recently marked\u00a0several milestones in its portfolio of wind, solar and energy\u00a0storage\u00a0projects in Ireland.\u00a0Due to be\u00a0energised\u00a0this month,\u00a0the\u00a0Garreenleen\u00a0solar project\u00a0in\u00a0Carlow\u00a0–\u00a0Perigus\u00a0Energy\u2019s\u00a0first solar project\u00a0in Ireland\u00a0–\u00a0will generate 81 MW of renewable energy,\u00a0enough to power 29,000 homes\u00a0and help reduce Ireland\u2019s reliance on fossil fuels by supplying green electricity on sunny days.\u00a0Meanwhile,\u00a0Farranrory\u00a0Wind Farm\u00a0in Co. Tipperary\u00a0is\u00a0expected to be fully operational in 2026. This\u00a0will become\u00a0Perigus\u00a0Energy\u2019s 21st\u00a0 wind farm on the island of Ireland with nine turbines, providing 43.2 MW, enough to power up to 25,000 homes.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The company has also recently secured key planning milestones, including permission for the Brittas Wind Farm in Tipperary, consent for the 170 MW Cappakeel solar farm in Laois, and provisional success for the Lodgewood battery energy storage project in Wexford in the latest the last Capacity Market auction run by EirGrid and SONI. In Cork, planning has been secured for a battery energy storage system at the 55 MW Ballinrea Solar Farm, where construction is well advanced, with more than 7,000 panels installed and energisation on track later this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n
