{"id":73037,"date":"2026-05-01T21:23:18","date_gmt":"2026-05-01T21:23:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/73037\/"},"modified":"2026-05-01T21:23:18","modified_gmt":"2026-05-01T21:23:18","slug":"novo-rebrands-diabetes-pill-as-ozempic-to-tap-blockbuster-name","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/73037\/","title":{"rendered":"Novo rebrands diabetes pill as Ozempic to tap blockbuster name"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/m.economictimes.com\/topic\/novo-nordisk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Novo Nordisk<\/a> A\/S is rebranding an existing, less-popular diabetes tablet as <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/m.economictimes.com\/topic\/ozempic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Ozempic<\/a> in the US in a bid to capitalize on the brand recognition of one of the world&#8217;s best-selling drugs.<\/p>\n<p>The Danish drugmaker will start selling Ozempic pills in doses of 1.5 milligram, 4 mg and 9 mg to adults from Monday through more than 70,000 pharmacies across the US, according to a statement Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Novo said the relaunched Ozempic pills are as safe and effective as tablets sold under the name Rybelsus, which have the same main ingredient, <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/m.economictimes.com\/topic\/semaglutide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">semaglutide<\/a>, but in a different formulation and set of doses. <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/m.economictimes.com\/topic\/rybelsus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Rybelsus<\/a> will continue to be marketed outside the US.<br \/>Novo is trying to win back market share from rival Eli Lilly &amp; Co., pinning its comeback on new formulations of its top-selling medicines and a more direct-to-consumer approach.
