{"id":7320,"date":"2026-02-10T02:03:11","date_gmt":"2026-02-10T02:03:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/7320\/"},"modified":"2026-02-10T02:03:11","modified_gmt":"2026-02-10T02:03:11","slug":"engine-room-fire-onboard-dfds-freight-ship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/7320\/","title":{"rendered":"Engine room fire onboard DFDS freight ship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>                <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aiir-c-news-figure__image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/5e726c73f2ccd.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><br \/>\n                                    The Caesarea Trader, formerly the Commodore Goodwill<\/p>\n<p class=\"aiir-c-news-article__abstract\">\n            A fire has broken out in the engine room of the Caesarea Trader freight ship en route from Jersey to Portsmouth.\n        <\/p>\n<p>Media reports from the Isle of Wight suggest the freight ship reported a fire in the vessel\u2019s engine room at around 4.15pm on Monday (9 February).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It had departed St Helier just before 9 o\u2019clock this morning bound for Portsmouth.<\/p>\n<p>The Bembridge RNLI All-Weather lifeboat was launched to assist, along with tug boats sent to the scene from Portsmouth.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson from HM Coastguard said: &#8220;HM Coastguard is currently responding to an engine room fire on board a cargo vessel at anchor East of Shanklin, Isle of Wight.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;An HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopter has been sent to undertake thermal imaging of the vessel.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Bembridge lifeboat has also been sent, along with tugs from Portsmouth.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The incident is ongoing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s understood the crew were instructed to abandon ship.<\/p>\n<p>The 126 metre long vessel could be seen on the Marine Traffic radar website sitting off the east coast of the Isle of Wight this evening.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/698a359456519.jpeg\" style=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Just after 8pm DFDS issued the following statement:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:start\">\u201cWe can confirm that Caesarea Trader experienced a fire in the engine room earlier today.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:start\">\u00a0\u201cAll crew members and the one passenger who was travelling with the vessel are safe.
