{"id":74342,"date":"2026-05-04T11:47:11","date_gmt":"2026-05-04T11:47:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/74342\/"},"modified":"2026-05-04T11:47:11","modified_gmt":"2026-05-04T11:47:11","slug":"germanys-merz-says-us-is-and-will-remain-berlins-most-important-nato-partner-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/74342\/","title":{"rendered":"Germany\u2019s Merz says US &#8216;is and will remain\u2019 Berlin\u2019s \u2018most important\u2019 NATO partner"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said late Sunday that &#8220;the United States is and will remain Germany\u2019s most important partner\u201d in NATO<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe share a common goal: Iran must not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons,\u201d he said on the US social media platform X.<\/p>\n<p>Merz\u2019s remarks come amid tensions between Washington and Berlin after he recently criticized the US for lacking an \u201cexit strategy\u201d in the Iran war while saying the Americans were \u201chumiliated\u201d by the Iranian regime during negotiations.<\/p>\n<p>Merz said Sunday that the United States will not station Tomahawk cruise missiles in Germany for the time being, stressing that the decision was not linked to his criticism of President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Americans don&#8217;t have enough for themselves right now.
