According to\u00a0Berliner Morgenpost, Berlin police confirmed<\/a> that the restrictions will apply at\u00a0key Soviet memorial sites across the city, including Tiergarten, Treptower Park, and Sch\u00f6nholzer Heide, where official ceremonies marking the end of\u00a0World War II\u00a0in\u00a0Europe are held annually.<\/p>\n

The same source reports that banned items include national flags of\u00a0Russia, Belarus, the former Soviet Union, and Chechnya, as\u00a0well as\u00a0military uniforms, insignia, and symbols such as\u00a0the letters \u201cZ\u201d and \u201cV,\u201d which are widely associated with Russia\u2019s military campaign. <\/p>\n

The prohibition also extends to\u00a0St. George\u2019s ribbons, portraits of\u00a0Russian, Belarusian, and Chechen leaders, and the public performance of\u00a0Russian military songs or\u00a0marches.<\/p>\n

According to\u00a0Berliner Morgenpost, authorities will also restrict displays of\u00a0maps or\u00a0imagery portraying Ukraine\u2019s temporarily occupied territories as\u00a0part of\u00a0Russia, as\u00a0well as\u00a0flags of\u00a0self-proclaimed entities established under Russian control.<\/p>\n

At\u00a0the same time, Ukrainian symbols will not be\u00a0subject to\u00a0the ban following appeals from Ukrainian organizations in\u00a0Germany, Berliner Morgenpost reported. Limited exemptions will apply to\u00a0World War II\u00a0veterans and diplomats.<\/p>\n

Earlier, several regions across Russia scaled<\/a> back or\u00a0canceled May 9\u00a0Victory Day parades due to\u00a0security concerns linked to\u00a0potential Ukrainian drone strikes, with authorities replacing large public events with limited or\u00a0online formats and, in\u00a0some cities, proceeding without military equipment.<\/p>\n
