President Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan has said that T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s long standing bid to join the European Union depends primarily on Brussels\u2019 strategic outlook rather than Ankara\u2019s qualifications.<\/p>\n
Speaking after a cabinet meeting, Erdo\u011fan stressed that the issue of T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s accession should be viewed through the lens of the EU\u2019s future vision and geopolitical priorities. He argued that the bloc\u2019s reluctance to admit T\u00fcrkiye reflects broader strategic considerations within Brussels.<\/p>\n
According to the Turkish leader, the EU\u2019s ambition to become a stronger global actor cannot be realized without T\u00fcrkiye as a full member. He warned that a union excluding T\u00fcrkiye would struggle to position itself as a credible center of global power and influence.<\/p>\n
Erdo\u011fan also called on the EU to abandon what he described as double standards in its policies toward T\u00fcrkiye. He emphasized that Ankara rejects being treated as a country that is only engaged when needed.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are not a country that is remembered when necessary, whose door is knocked on when needed, and set aside at other times and we never will be,\u201d Erdo\u011fan said.<\/p>\n
