The LEGO Sega Genesis Console will release on June 1, with a price tag of $39.99.

Ages: 12+
Pieces: 479
Measurements: Over 1.5″ high, 6″ wide and 4.5″ deep; the controllers measure over 1″ high, 3″ wide and 9.5″ deep
What’s included: The building kit includes 2 detachable controllers, a removable Sonic the Hedgehog 2 game card, plus stickers and labels to swap it between Mega Drive and Sega Genesis
Price: $39.99

The middle of the console (after removing the cartridge feed) has an Easter egg of a Sonic face hidden inside.

I’m super nostalgic for the Sega Genesis, my second ever console after the NES. That being said, this set features much fewer pieces and detailing than I would expect, especially after the incredible (and very much out of print) LEGO NES, which included over 2500 pieces and a full-on retro TV with scrolling Mario!

Heck, even the more recent LEGO Game Boy (which I also own) is almost the same amount of pieces.

At least the price of the LEGO Sega Genesis is surprisingly fair.

“Like many others from my generation, I still vividly remember when the SegaMega Drive launched – it felt completely out of this world,” said Patrik, Designer, the LEGO Group. “27 years later the love for the console is still going strong – I still play mine! Recreating the intricate details and curves of the console with LEGO elements was an enjoyable challenge, despite it’s difficulty.”

“We feel that this is a building experience that captures both Sega’s heritage of gaming and the playful creativity of LEGO play,” said Alex Gomez, VP, Sega of America, Inc. “The Sega Genesis holds a special place in the hearts of gamers and represents a defining era in video game history. With this new LEGO set, fans are not only able to relive those nostalgic memories, but also actively engage with Sega’s legacy through hands-on creativity.”

The LEGO Sega Genesis console (40926) will release on June 1 on LEGO.com and LEGO retailers.

The LEGO Group and Sega have revealed a new LEGO set based on the classic Sega Genesis console…

[6050
40361,4248,40362,6051,40363,40364,39575
0":"post-75154","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-lego","8":"tag-f2","9":"tag-lego","10":"tag-lego-console","11":"tag-lego-group","12":"tag-lego-sega-genesis-console","13":"tag-n2","14":"tag-sega
["GET
