KNOW<\/p>\n<p>Countess Athena of Monpezat was confirmed at Georgetown Lutheran Church in Washington, D.C., over the weekend<\/p>\n<p>Athena, 14, is the youngest child of Prince Joachim and Princess Marie and 10th in line to the Danish throne<\/p>\n<p>She and her family moved to the U.S. in 2023 but will return to Denmark in 2027<\/p>\n<p>Countess Athena of Monpezat celebrated a milestone moment surrounded by family.<\/p>\n<p>The only daughter of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aol.com\/lifestyle\/prince-joachim-denmark-says-had-151412628.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Prince Joachim;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">Prince Joachim<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aol.com\/lifestyle\/prince-joachim-denmark-says-hasnt-152011159.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Princess Marie;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">Princess Marie<\/a> of Denmark, 14, was confirmed at Georgetown Lutheran Church in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, May 2, according to an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DX3goXaAiCL\/?hl=en&amp;img_index=4\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Instagram post;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">Instagram post<\/a> shared by the Danish Royal Family.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCongratulations to Her Excellency,\u201d the Danish Royal Family wrote in the caption, alongside several photos from the special day.<\/p>\n<p>In one sweet shot, Athena grins as she is held horizontally in the arms of her three brothers: Count Nikolai, 26, and Count Felix, 23, from Prince Joachim\u2019s first marriage, and Count Henrik, 16, whom Joachim shares with Princess Marie.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Countess Athena, 14, poses with her mom line of succession to the Danish throne.<\/p>\n<p>At the beginning of 2023, when she was 10, Athena was stripped of her title as princess by her grandmother, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aol.com\/lifestyle\/queen-margrethe-denmark-now-europes-174550176.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Queen Margrethe of Denmark;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">Queen Margrethe of Denmark<\/a>, who became the country\u2019s <a monarch;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">longest-reigning monarch<\/a> later that year.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, the palace said the Queen wanted to \u201ccreate the framework for the four grandchildren to be able to shape their own lives to a much greater extent without being limited by the special considerations and duties that a formal affiliation with the Royal House of Denmark as an institution involves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Athena later moved to the U.S. with her mother, father and brother. But in an interview with Danish outlet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billedbladet.dk\/kongelige\/danmark\/nu-bekraefter-prinsesse-marie-vi-flytter-hjem-til-danmark\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:BILLED-BLADET;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">BILLED-BLADET<\/a> on Feb. 5, 2026, Princess Marie revealed that the family <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aol.com\/lifestyle\/princess-marie-denmark-reveals-whether-155729251.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:will move back to Denmark;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">will move back to Denmark<\/a> after Joachim&#8217;s contract as defense industry attach\u00e9 expires in August 2027.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The most important thing for me and my family are the years that lie ahead of us. Right now, as you know, we are staying in the U.S. for another year and a half.
