During the engagement, Dr. Geofrey Arinaitwe, Director of NaCORI, delivered a comprehensive briefing on Uganda\u2019s coffee sector, highlighting coffee as a key driver of rural transformation. He underscored its strong contribution to improving household incomes and noted Uganda\u2019s growing export leadership, now surpassing Ethiopia in coffee exports.<\/p>\n<p>He also emphasized emerging opportunities in specialty coffee markets, enhanced traceability, and value addition, reaffirming that sustained investment in research, resilient varieties, and market-driven innovation will further strengthen Uganda\u2019s global competitiveness.<\/p>\n<p><a data-bid=\"1\" data-no-instant=\"1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.comunicaffe.com\/linkout\/189844\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" class=\"notrack\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"RANCILIO_2026_05_R_C5-CRONO_550x90\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/RANCILIO_2026_05_R_C5-CRONO_550x90.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"90\" style=\"opacity: 1 !important;\"\/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p>The delegation later proceeded to Bugolobi for a coffee cupping session organized by the Commercial Coffee Producers Association of Uganda (CCPAU), which unites businesses across the coffee value chain committed to producing and promoting high-quality Ugandan coffee for global markets. The association continues to focus on quality enhancement, market expansion, and value addition.<\/p>\n<p>Day 2 of the Coffee Familiarization Trip is saw, Amb. Stephen Mubiru lead the German delegation interested in Uganda\u2019s coffee sector to the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry &amp; Fisheries. The delegation has been received by the Minister of State for Agriculture, Fred Bwiino Kyakulaga who has chaired a meeting and highlighted Uganda\u2019s diverse coffee varieties, emphasizing that the country\u2019s agriculture thrives on rich natural endowments. Fertile soils and a favorable climate that enable crops to grow with minimal intervention as illustrated by bananas that often thrive naturally, reflecting Uganda\u2019s strong agricultural potential.<\/p>\n<p><a data-bid=\"1\" data-no-instant=\"1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.comunicaffe.com\/linkout\/177497\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" class=\"notrack\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Julius_adv_news\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Julius_adv_news.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"90\" style=\"opacity: 1 !important;\"\/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Amb. Mubiru noted that Uganda\u2013Germany trade stands at nearly USD 500M, with exports to Germany accounting for approximately USD 300M, largely driven by coffee. Germany remains among the top three importers of Ugandan coffee, underscoring a strong and mutually beneficial partnership.<\/p>\n<p>With around 800 coffee roasters serving 84M people, each consuming an average of three cups daily, the scale of opportunity is significant. The focus now: how can Uganda increase its share in this market?
