With flights set to be disrupted <\/a>this summer due to the jet fuel crisis<\/a>, more holidaymakers will be turning to Europe<\/a>\u2019s train network to get around.<\/p>\n

And now, a brand new line between Prague<\/a> and Copenhagen<\/a> has finally opened up to passengers.<\/p>\n

After its official launch on May 1, travellers can now hop between these two capital cities<\/a>, with tickets starting from just \u00a353.<\/p>\n

There will now be a daily service between Prague\u2019s main railway station, Hlavn\u00ed N\u00e1dra\u017e\u00ed, which stops in Hamburg, Germany<\/a>, and then carries on to Copenhagen.<\/p>\n

After a decade in the making, the new route is thanks to a joint effort between Czech Railways (\u010cD), the Czech Republic<\/a>\u2019s largest rail carrier, Germany\u2019s Deutsche Bahn, and Danske Statsbaner, Denmark\u2019s primary train company.<\/p>\n

The new train link from Prague stops at the following stations:<\/p>\n

There will be two daily services, one of which will make the return journey from Hamburg back to Prague, while the second will continue to onto Copenhagen.<\/p>\n

The service will begin in Prague at 6.30am, depart from Dresden at 8.53am, from Berlin Hauptbahnhof at 10.38am and from Hamburg Hauptbahnhof at 1.25pm, before arriving in the Danish capital at 7.38pm.<\/p>\n

In the summer months, an extra 4.30pm departure on to Copenhagen from Prague will be added to the timetable.<\/p>\n

How long will it take to get from Prague to Copenhagen?<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a lot of land to cover between Prague and Copenhagen, with the two capitals around 394 miles apart.<\/p>\n

The Prague to Hamburg leg takes six hours and 41 minutes. Then, it\u2019s just over another six hours to the Danish capital.<\/p>\n

All in, the train \u2014 which can reach impressive speeds of up to 230 km\/h \u2014 takes around 13 hours.<\/p>\n

Of course, it\u2019s a lot longer than flying, which takes 1 hour and 20 minutes. <\/p>\n

How much will the Prague to Copenhagen train cost?<\/p>\n

Passengers can purchase a Prague-Hamburg-Copenhagen train ticket on all three of the country\u2019s rail websites, ticket offices, or through the app. <\/p>\n

Fares won\u2019t break the bank, either. According to Czech Railways, ticket prices including seat reservation will start at around 425 Czech crowns for Berlin (\u00a315), 650 Czech crowns for Hamburg (\u00a323) and 1,500 Czech crowns for Copenhagen (\u00a353).<\/p>\n

The new route, linking three countries, is one of the first of 10 European Commission pilot projects to launch. It comes after Deutsche Bahn and France\u2019s SNCF launched\u00a0the Berlin to Paris\u00a0route in 2024.<\/p>\n

The idea is to boost cross-border passenger rail to create faster, more frequent, and affordable international train connections.<\/p>\n

The Prague to Copenhagen service will then be followed by a Munich-Milan-Rome version, scheduled for December 2026.<\/p>\n

Frecciarossa 1000 trains, a\u00a0high-speed train\u00a0of the\u00a0Italian\u00a0national train operator,\u00a0Trenitalia, will connect Munich and Milan in 6 hours and 30 minutes, and Munich and Rome in 8 hours and 30 minutes. <\/p>\n

Initially, it will be a daily round-trip expected to expand to five trips per day.<\/p>\n

What can you expect on the train?<\/p>\n

\u010cD\u2019s new ComfortJet trains will make the longer trip much more comfortable \u2014 it\u2019s in the name.<\/p>\n

With onboard restaurants, Wi-Fi, bike storage and a children\u2019s cinema, the trains are also equipped with first- and second-class carriages. There\u2019s also disabled<\/a> access and baby stroller space. <\/p>\n

Plus, onboard entertainment, air conditioning, and quiet compartments are available.<\/p>\n
