Both will be built at the Jinjing shipyard (China) and are set to enter service in 2019.

With the new ships, designed by Knud E. Hansen, DFDS aims to better meet the anticipated demand for cargo growth, increase operational efficiency, and reduce environmental impact. The size will help lower unit costs and they will set a benchmark in the North Sea.

They will be equipped with scrubbers for sulfur removal, ballast water treatment systems, and a series of energy efficiency initiatives. Both ships represent a new generation of environmentally friendly ro-ro vessels, as they will comply with the latest environmental standards (IME EEDI Energy Efficiency Design Index).

Photo: DFDS

The Danish company DFDS has signed a contract for the construction of two new roll-on/roll-off cargo ships, each…

[6052
174,6057,40803,2330
post-76093","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-dfds","tag-china","tag-dfds","tag-rolled-load","tag-shipbuilding
["GET
