Photo \/ Beau Outteridge, Rockwool Racing<\/p>\n<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\">Hansen was a welcome addition for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/sport\/sailing\/sailgp\/sailgp-auckland-american-magic-doug-devos-buy-danish-team-for-988-million\/WX4OWELNB5HBFDQJ6GIVHDD2XQ\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/sport\/sailing\/sailgp\/sailgp-auckland-american-magic-doug-devos-buy-danish-team-for-988-million\/WX4OWELNB5HBFDQJ6GIVHDD2XQ\/\">the Danish team,<\/a> who are currently seventh in the overall standings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\">They head into Bermuda 10 points outside of a place in the top three, with their best result of the season so far being fifth in last month\u2019s regatta in Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cMarcus is one of the most experienced grinders in SailGP and understands exactly what it takes to perform and win at this level,\u201d Danish driver Nicolai Sehested said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cBringing an athlete of his calibre into our squad on a short-term basis is a no-brainer and gives us immediate strength for two important events.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\">Missing both this week\u2019s regatta in Bermuda and the New York stop at the end of the month means the Black Foils will have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/sport\/sailing\/sailgp\/sailgp-auckland-crash-injured-french-sailor-manon-audinet-addresses-collision-with-black-foils\/5KYO4KY52ZHLHPA2Q5JXALUDZ4\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/sport\/sailing\/sailgp\/sailgp-auckland-crash-injured-french-sailor-manon-audinet-addresses-collision-with-black-foils\/5KYO4KY52ZHLHPA2Q5JXALUDZ4\/\">failed to complete six<\/a> of the season\u2019s 13 events.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\">Australia currently lead the campaign with 35 points, ahead of Great Britain on 29 and the USA on 27. The Kiwi crew will be hopeful that points are distributed across the fleet over the next event and not just dominated by the current leaders, if they\u2019re to have a chance of playing catch-up.
